The Brighton Medact group - health professionals working together for a better world by taking action on peace & security, climate & environment, economic justice and health & human rights - has reformed.
To get their message out to health staff (and others - all welcome), they are soon going to be holding a film showing at the Audrey Emerton Building, Eastern Road. Along with Docs not Cops and Sussex Defend the NHS, they will also be taking actions to counter the #HostileEnvironment in the NHS. Date and film to be confirmed. A public meeting is planned in March - more details in our next calendar update.

Integrated Care Systems: what's happening in Brighton?
Integrated Care Services - sounds good but in reality NHSE is imposing the US healthcare model to replace our NHS. Integrated Care Systems are the equivalent of US Accountable Care Organisations. Integrated Care Services - will separate the NHS in England into 44 separate entities - each will have a FIXED POPULATION BUDGET - health care based, not on need, but on a fixed per capita budget - so in reality more about restricting Care. Whilst integration could be about seamless health and social care, full public accountability and better services for people, this NHSE-style integration is more the integrating with private providers, revolving door, conflict of interest, rationing care type, that is actually the opposite of what the NHS and social care need. Tell your local Councillors: We don't want Integrated Care Services in Brighton & Hove. And we have the example of councils like Luton who are challenging this process! Let's do it in Brighton and Hove! 5 minute video interview based on some of our work in Sussex Defend NHS https://thedirtywaronnhs.com/online-cinema-screening
