For decades UK governments have been bringing in unjust and inhumane immigration laws and controls. The rights of people wishing to settle in this country, to work, benefits, housing, education and residency have been systematically destroyed.

Support our pledge

We oppose this and the hostile environment created by this government. We pledge to oppose all NHS charging and sharing of data relating to these inhumane immigration laws.

Specifically, we pledge to:

- Oppose all NHS charging arising from the Immigration Act 2014 and subsequent regulations.
- Oppose and campaign against the  breaching of patient confidentiality by  sharing information with the Home Office.
- Actively support those campaigning to oppose charging for health services, racial profiling and any new discriminatory regulations the government may introduce.
- Lobby Councillors and MPs, stating actions they should take to combat these racist regulations.
- Support Union representatives of NHS workers to uphold professional practice and standards by instructing their members to refuse.
- Support patients who decline to provide unnecessary information which may result in their facing charges or being refused access to healthcare.
- Support could involve getting detailed advice on the individual’s situation, help writing letters, getting local media involved, accompanying to appointments etc.
- Raise these issues in community or activist groups, workplace meetings, trade unions and political parties to ensure that actions are taken to support this Pledge, including passing a motion of support.
- Support the principle of a universal NHS free at the point of delivery (ie no charging whatsoever) to all regardless of immigration and/or citizenship status. An NHS that is publicly provided, funded and accountable; where any form of discrimination or racism is eliminated.
